Hi I'm Kim Richards. I am an educator and qualified as a Strategic Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. I would love to help you or someone you love, be able to cope and do better to manage Diabetes.
Diabetic Stress and Anxiety management is a key component to that. There are many factors that can seriously impact on blood sugar levels but none more relevant, impacting or as far reaching as the effect of poor mental health.
I am a Type 1 diabetic and have been for the last 30 years. I understand what life is like with diabetes. I am a mum of two and understand the complexities of getting pregnant and being pregnant while diabetic. I have travelled the world and navigated workplaces in many countries. I have also been involved in competitive sport and understand the implications of diabetes in this arena.
The pressures and expectations of life can seem overwhelming when also having to deal with so many other things related to this health condition. You can feel like you face unfair judgement. It can often feel like it is bigger than you and can creep into every aspect of your life, even when you are sleeping. It never rests.
I am happy to work with anyone who is suffering from stress or anxiety, however I specialise in dealing with the complex relationship of this and its' impact on a person with diabetes. You may be newly diagnosed and not sure what the future holds or finding that a change in life circumstances has tipped the scales. You might be worried about being responsible for someone else. You might be suffering with gestational diabetes and worried about the future, You might be fearful of judgement, angry, Have a fear of needles, lack motivation to exercise or eat properly, or just feel frustrated or out of control.
I can help.
"It's a catch 22, I feel depressed about my situation, which leads to poor blood sugar control, which leads to more depression" Diabetes Sufferer

I know what it is like to have to be
"On all day every day"
Strategic Psychotherapy is a form of therapy designed and based on models of CBT( Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). It incorporates the use of hypnotherapy as a tool for making sessions brief and effective in a way that traditional talk therapy doesn't.
Hypnotherapy recognises the vital connection between your mind and body. By addressing the underlying psychological factors contributing to or exasperated by diabetes, it aims to help you achieve a healthier, more balanced state. This improved mental perspective allows your body to reset and you the space to control your blood sugars more effectively and improve your over-all health.

Hypnotherapy for Stress-Free Expectancy
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I tailor resources for expectant parents incorporating the transformative benefits of hypnotherapy. Sessions are individualised and designed to reduce your stress levels and instead support positive patterns of thinking and behaviour during this crucial time.
Sport hypnosis is taking mental training to a higher level.
Sport hypnosis is more effective than mental training because athletes obtain a deeper level of relaxation so that their minds become open to new ways of thinking.
This allows for greater self belief, confidence and elimination of negative thinking patterns that create unnecessary limitations.
The importance of obtaining deep levels of relaxation in order to get into trance has been found to be more effective that traditional methods of relaxation. Goals set in trance have been found to be more useful.
When in trance, visualisations appear to clearer, focused and more stable than when used in traditional mental training.

When you are looking for help to solve problems, it can be very overwhelming. You may try out or look into many different forms of therapy. Not all forms of therapy are equal. In fact not all forms of hypnosis are the same. Be warned there is a vast discrepancy that exists between practitioners regarding efficacy and qualifications. Not all practitioners are registered or endorsed by an industry peak body. The right therapist makes ALL the difference.

Making a Free Call either over the phone or by zoom gives you a chance to get answers to your questions and see if we connect and are a good fit. This is extremely important to make a positive difference in your life.
Change is possible. All you need is a quiet private place and a computer. Usually client's use zoom to access a session with me. It is best if you are sitting in a comfortable position in a chair that offers good support.
A treatment plan is designed with you and for you and on agreement of this,
you can sit back and relax. Hypnosis with Strategic Psychotherapy is tailored to you and your unique issues and concerns and what you want to change or achieve.
Our hypnosis sessions are recorded for you so that you can listen to the audio on your phone and take full advantage of the therapy at any time it is convenient for you.
Usually it can take between 4-6 sessions for a desired outcome to be developed however everyone is unique and each situation is different.
What change can look like is developing your ability to do things differently, so you don't just feel better but are better. This could be reducing fear, improving your ability to eat well or be more energetic, have more confidence or even sleep well.
This can require the learning of new ways of doing things and learning new skills and strategies. Then applying them at the right time and place, improving your ability to handle stress and anxiety, putting you back in charge of when why and how you do things.
Although based in Brisbane Australia, we work via zoom so anyone anywhere can access services.
